Kiln drying, which is the gradual extraction of moisture from sawn timber to achieve the desired moisture content, is undertaken to improve the physical and mechanical strength of the timber. This will also reduce subsequent surface-cracking and splitting of the applied timber, hence enhancing its durability, functionality and commercial value.
Our 17 KD chambers, covering a built-up area of 30,000 sq ft, are fully automated. The chambers have a combined monthly production capacity of 2,000-2,500 metric tons.
Besides kiln drying, we also provide the additional services of timber grading and packing, right up to containers loading.
We have the technology and facility to provide timber treatment using both the pressure-impregnation and conventional soaking methods at our timber complex. Timber treatment, with its fungicidal- and insecticidal-prevention properties, are required to protect certain timber species that are prone to fungus growth and/or insect-borings as well as timber that are used externally.
